Mission Statement:
Seeking God…Sharing God
Vision Statements:
1.
Centrality of Prayer
Goal: To develop and implement a 3-year plan to
extend a call for congregational wide prayer.
2.
Spiritual Formation
Goal: To develop a plan for intentional spiritual
formation for all ages, including a plan for implementation.
3.
Something BIG outside the walls of Pasadena Covenant
Goal: To partner in planting the
“Church of the Redeemer”
Commitment Statements:
In addition to the mission and vision statements and our
core values, certain strong implications grew out of our process and need to be
stated:
-
We affirm our current experience of worship: intergenerational; eclectic
in music, art forms and traditions; hospitable to the needs of the other; and
offered in reverence to God.
-
We charge the Trustee Council to review staff positions and to reorganize
the lay leadership structure of Pasadena Covenant in light of the direction of
Vision to Action and with attention to leadership development.
-
As recommended by the Trustees, and after discerning to the best of our
ability and through prayer who Pasadena Covenant “is” and “is called to be” in
this season, we charge that future staff and leadership decisions be evaluated
and guided by the degree to which they are supportive of the direction set by
this process and summarized herein.
-
We charge that stewardship of God’s gifts to us be guided by our vision
for this season.
-
We charge the Trustee Council to commit to an on-going Vision to Action
process.
Harvest and Sow:
-
In support of
“Seeking God…Sharing God”, the Trustees
recommend that we balance our investment in our own ministries, with planting
ministry outside our walls.
-
The area of internal investment that the Trustees want to support
is to attend to our deferred maintenance, beautification of our facilities, and
needed upgrades.
-
The gifts of the two properties (N. Lake Ave. house and Elizabeth
House) were given for the sake of ministry, not for the purpose of increasing
our properties.
-
Good stewardship calls us to anticipate how these gifts will be
used next. They are gifts that God has given us to “Harvest” and “Sow”.
-
Because we have gifts God has already provided, we want to use our
resources in the spirit of “Seeking God…Sharing God”, we then believe
that at this time God has provided for us to:
-
Plant the Church of the Redeemer through Household Support and
-
Address our own needs for deferred maintenance, beautification
projects and delayed upgrades by Harvesting gifts already provided to use and
Sowing them in new ministry.
We have
listened to hear God’s leading
We will
respond in obedience
